These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Escapage, a creative platform for collecting, organising, and sharing written language. Escapage is a product of Seedcraft Ventures Ltd, a company registered in Scotland, trading as Escapage.
By creating an account or using any part of Escapage, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. If something here doesn't sit right with you, write to us at contact@escapage.ink and let's talk.
Who we are
Escapage is operated by Seedcraft Ventures Ltd, a company registered in Scotland. References to “Escapage”, “we”, “us”, or “our” throughout these terms refer to Seedcraft Ventures Ltd trading as Escapage.
Trading as Escapage
What Escapage is
Escapage is a creative home for words. It lets you collect and organise written pieces like first lines, quotes, sparks, journal entries, mood palettes, characters, memories, constraints, and prose, into visual boards you can return to when the blank page feels impossible.
Escapage is built around a core commitment: no generative AI writing features. There is no button that writes for you. The writing is always yours. This is a design decision and a promise. See §05 for the full commitment.
Escapage is an independent project built and maintained by a small team. The service is provided as-is, with no uptime guarantees, and may change or evolve as we learn what users need.
Your account
- Age. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Accuracy. Please provide accurate information when registering. You don't have to use your real name as your public handle, but your email address must be real.
- Security. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure. If you think your account has been compromised, tell us immediately.
- One person, one account. Accounts are personal. You can't sell, transfer, or share your account with anyone else.
- Deletion. You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We delete your data within 30 days, subject to the exceptions in our Privacy Policy.
Your content
Your words are yours. You retain full ownership of everything you create and save on Escapage. We don't claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
By posting content on Escapage, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.
For content you make public (shared boards, challenge entries, notes on other people's work) you grant other Escapage users the right to view that content as part of using the platform. You can make any board private or delete it at any time.
When you save a quote or excerpt from someone else's work, you're responsible for respecting the rights of the original creator. Escapage is built for personal, non-commercial inspiration, not republishing entire works.
Our commitment to your words
We will never use your content to train, fine-tune, or otherwise improve any AI or machine learning model, ours or anyone else's. We will never sell, license, or transfer your content to AI companies or data brokers. Every piece on Escapage comes from a human mind.
Community standards
Escapage is a space for people who reach for language when the world gets loud. By using community features (public boards, challenges, feedback) you agree to:
- Be human. No bots, automated accounts, or synthetic content presented as your own.
- Be honest. Credit quotes and excerpts to their original authors. Don't pass off someone else's work as your own.
- Be kind. When leaving feedback on others' work, be thoughtful and constructive. Criticism is welcome; cruelty is not.
- Respect privacy. Don't share other people's private information, including content from private boards shared with you in trust.
What's not allowed
The following are not permitted on Escapage under any circumstances:
- Illegal content. Anything that violates UK law or the laws of your jurisdiction.
- Hateful content. Content promoting hatred or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Harassment. Targeted abuse, threats, or intimidation of any person.
- Sexual content involving minors. Absolutely prohibited. We will report this to the relevant authorities.
- Spam and manipulation. Unsolicited promotion, artificial engagement, or coordinated inauthentic behaviour.
- AI-generated content presented as human. You may use AI tools in your own process, but don't submit AI-generated text as your own in community spaces like challenges or feedback.
- Impersonation. Claiming to be another person, creator, or organisation.
Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination, without notice in serious cases.
Our intellectual property
The Escapage name, logo, design, code, and any original content we create are owned by Seedcraft Ventures Ltd and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from Escapage's design or interface without our written permission. Linking to Escapage is fine and encouraged.
Availability & warranties
Escapage is an independent project provided “as is” and “as available”. We don't make any warranties about reliability, accuracy, or availability. We'll do our best to keep things running, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted access.
If we ever shut down Escapage entirely, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and offer a way for you to export your content.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seedcraft Ventures Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Escapage.
Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or £25.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Termination
You can stop using Escapage and delete your account at any time, no explanation needed.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. In serious cases (illegal content, harassment, abuse), we may act without warning. In less serious cases, we'll try to contact you first.
If your account is terminated due to a violation, you may not create a new account without our explicit permission.
Changes to these terms
When we make material changes (anything that affects your rights or obligations), we'll notify active users by email before the change takes effect. Minor updates will just show a new “last updated” date.
Continuing to use Escapage after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree with a change, you can close your account before it applies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising from them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under the laws of your own country.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
Something not clear? Just ask.
We're a small team and we actually read our emails. If anything here is confusing, write to us before signing up.
